personally i think will be a fun event and a great thing for scenario paintball. i'm sure all the bugs will be worked out by the time the tournament comes. if not, oh well it should be fun. I cant go seeing as i dont have the money but i hope everyone else has a great time. I highly doubt that this is a scam seeing that RAP4 would be ruined. One million dollars isnt that much in all actuallity. Certainly not enough for a company to take the money and run with it. I hope everyone has fun and i will be watching this with continued interest. AnnieAngel kudos to you for sticking up for it and questioner its your opinion but dotn ruin it for everyone else. Ultimately its up to the people if they want to invest this kinda money or not. They know there is risk involved. I think people should be doing this for fun, the prizes just being a little extra incentive. Good luck OPI with the tournament. Good luck Annie with keeping the flamers at  bay. laters

WOW!!  questioner  I havent seen so much verbal diareah in a long time.........     Shocked

Here is some tissue for yer keyboard and my oppinion on your statements.
Lets do them in order so we can digest your personal ignorance of this, and other paintball events. What would I know? Hmmm lets see, I own a 100 ACRE paintball field, have 12 employees,And host the Central Alberta Woodsballl League, A competetive Woodsball event, here in Canada.

1-  "The 25+ year of COMPETITION paintball has proven over and over again that TEAM PLAY will win out over individual efforts EVERY SINGLE TIME.  It has also proven over and over again that so-called scenario teams can not compete effectively in a truly competitive environment.  This is one reason why so many 'teams' that attempt to participate in both tournament play and scenario play end up having lackluster peformance on the tournament side and usually end up playing exclusively scenario ball."

BULLSH**
There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE in a SEVEN MINUTE EVENT which is the LONGEST GAME duration for speedball, and 24 hours of gaming.
They are different venues of play.Woodball and Scenarioball are NOT always the same thing either, just the terain style.

2- "HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PREVENT EXTRA PAINT FROM BEING SNUCK IN?  HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CONTROL VELOCITY ON THE FIELD?  HOW ARE YOUR SENSORS NOT GOING TO BE SET OFF MISTAKENLY?  WHAT ABOUT HITS OTHER THAN ON THE SENSORS?  WHAT ABOUT HITS THAT DON'T BREAK?  HOW ARE YOU GOING TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM TURNING OFF THEIR SENSORS?"

I dont know..hmmm....... lets see....... the same way EVERY OTHER FIELD CONTROLS OFF FIELD AMMO AND VELOCITY?!?!?!?!??? As for the sensors they are a refing AID, as in it will help determine if the ref needs to check a player, and from the info I have as a possible host field ,the dinamics are set for 1 on 1 refing at the end. Thats right 1 ref for EVERY player. HMMMMM do the math and name 1 other event that has that level of reffing. Hits that dont break... SPPL says that if your wearing Guillie suit your out if hit, no matter if the paint breaks or not. HOW is that enforced? They must have a procedure because otherwise the Guillie suit would be banned.

3- "IT IS YOUR ORGANIZATIONS' FAILURE TO PUBLISH REASONABLE ANSWERS IN A PROPER TIME FRAME THAT ARE LEADING TO MORE QUESTIONS"

Well I have YET to see a company releasing thier security protocols to the public in advance. Thats how people try to get information to try to cheat or otherwise get around security issues.Your not looking for info to try to cheat, questioner, are you?

-4 "As an example, here is a legitimate, rules-based question:
You are using sensor vests to record hits.  Why then is there a restriction on padding that may be worn by players?"

WELL That shows me you dont even play paintball or play VERY little. EVERY Rookie and even most NEWBS know that padding underneath increases the chance of a paintball "Bouncing" as oppossed to breaking. Probably why ALL of the PRO speedball events and most serious woodsball events have restrictions to clothing that is too loose or to wearing excessive padding. Again all I can say is WOW, followed by TRY playing paintball, at least ONCE !

-5 "You ask 'why am I on here?'  Because this event is either incompetently run or a scam, take your pick and, unlike so many paintballers who get blinded by dollar signs, I investigate and ask questions.  In either case, its heading for disaster and not worth the investment of time or money that is being asked for.  And don't respond with a trite 'so don't go'.  I and many others have a vested interested in seeing this industry free from events that reflect badly on its image."

The only thing thats going on here for a bad image is YOU
In Canada that little statement is worth a Lawsuit. Its called Defimation of Character. Do you have proof its a scam?? Do you have ANY knowledge of the operators bussiness ability?? Your statement is unfounded, and as shown in your postings, UNEDUCATED as well.

-6 "Tourney caps?  come on - just how pollyannish are you?  Most markers don't even have them any more and the moment players hit the fields, all of the secret electronics are activated.  Remind me again - what century are you from?"

ONCE AGAIN you show how little you play or know about organized events.
Lets see, the markers that DONT have tourney locks require a TOOL to adjust velocity, EVERY knows that tools are NOT ALLOWED on field. Same for "SECRET ELECTRONICS" . MY officials (Who have played paintball before)  Take a look at the marker in the pregame inspection and at time of Chronograph. That means that they take the marker and place it in ALL modes to see if there is "Shady" programing, and of course if there is issues, the ENTIRE team is eliminated. Unless you try to do it onfield with your ILLEGAL tools and get your teram dissqualified that way. Players/teams who need to cheat ussualy have NO SKILLS ( hence the cheating) and it becomes quite apperant to officials that something is up. I am sure that OPI has procedures in place.

There is no such thing as PERFECT playing conditions. There will ALWAYS be people that try to circumvent the rules (CHEATERS) The SPPL,the NPPL,The NXPL, as well as ALL other organizations have people in place to try to deal with it, and still there are issues. "Why not just stop having the events" isnt a solution. (I dont need to bring up Team Dynasty VS Stockhlom Joy in the Commanders Cup do I?) So what you do is PLAY, and worry about playing and let the Officials worry about cheaters.

So before trying to belittle an organization with unresearched acussations I recomend the following steps, in order.......

A- Pull your head out of your ..........
B- Dont be upset because you didnt think of the idea or you think you have better ideas or your field wasn't accepted as a Phase 1 site or whatever brought this "bashing" on
C- Look at the rules and Regulations of other Paintball events.
D- Play paintball @ least once, in EACH style, questioner. You seem to have an issue with Woodsball or Scenario style play. Lets talk about Football. In North america a Football is thrown. In the REST OF THE WORLD Football is played with your foot, Hence the name "FOOTBALL". Does that mean that the North American version is "wrong" or "less exciting" or shouldn't be even called "Football"? Pretty big difference huh? Same for PAINTBALL. Many Formats out there. Speedball, Woodsball and Scenarioball are THREE seperate parts of THE SAME SPORT. I am just glad to see promotion of the sport in general, let alone to see expansion in the other ends of it besides Speedball. I say Play WHATEVER form of the game you enjoy, Just get out there and play.

As far As I know the event is still a "GO" There has been some delays with the event and I cant say much but this is what I know.

1 There WILL be a MAJOR update in the VERY NEAR future. I have talked to the man in charge personaly.

2 They are still comfirming sites arould the globe. The Canadian    Cool host site will be announced soon. (Probably in the update)

When I talked to Mike about the event he mentioned that they didn't want to post unconfirmed information or release too much information ahead of time. As a Field owner I can tell you right now that in order to arrange parking for around a THOUSAND people, let alone suitable accomidations, and to get the fields preped JUST for this event is a bit of work and takes some time.

I talked to Mike for over an hour and I am not authorized to release any info about our conversation but like I said expect a major update soon !!

I don't know what the big deal is, HSI does it three times a year. If the event is going to be this big and the smaller fields can't handle it, why are they using the smaller fields?

All I know is that I registered for this in March, and I would expect the tourney to go on at least in the YEAR I registered, and seeing that it's more than halfway through August, there's very little time. People need dates so they can plan for these things. I've got a full schedule as it is, with four more big games before the end of the year(SPPL Qualifier, BHD, TWC, and SPPL Finals). If there isn't enough people to justify the $1 million prize, then do away with it. You'd get more respect for hosting a actual game (and if it goes well, have more interest the next time) rather than throwing out a big number and then dropping out.

Word of mouth advertising is far better than a $1,000,000 price tag. The general "buzz" on this lasted about 1 week and then the game fell off the map. The only reason I remember it is because it's stored in my favorites sidebar for the purpose of me not forgetting about it. But I'm just a player, I don't know much about field management or advertising. All I'm doing is offering up my humble opinion, to be taken with a grain of salt.

I guess what I'm getting at is, is it going to be this year or what?

When you said soon, were you talking months or what? It's almost October, and the season's only got a couple more weeks til it's over for us northerners...

Now it sounds almost as if this tournament is struggling, however all that aside it is pretty revolutionary. Especially for woodsball players everywhere in terms of respect of such a hefty tournament. Something so big is understandable to be so hard to get started, but on another point they should work out as much of the kinks as they can before people star throwing almost a $1000 dollars at it.

All that aside, I would really love to be a part of this tournament if it actually happens. Is there any team out there requiring any more members? I'm having a hard time scraping up together reliable friends who will actually follow through with this. Thanks.
