I'm pretty positive it's 1300 per person not team.... since u can sign up 2 at a time after all and they still give 1300 as the entry fee. If it was only 130 each I'd be there for sure 100%

You are probably right.  It is just with all the talk of teams in the write up, that they are looking to qualify teams, and that they want 10 or so teams to compete in the finals, I initially assumed.........wait.........thought that this may be a team registration fee.  If I am wrong, then, as another person mentioned, $1300 per person is kind of steep being that August is less than 6 months away.

I wish it was   Smiley I'd love to go but doubting i can manage to get together the guys who could actually go and afford it. Most of my team is occupied with college grrr... lol many players i'm sure would be happy to opt out on the free marker and remove 350 from the entry fee and bring their own gear but from the sounds of it we're required to use the marker they provide. My big question is after we register is the marker and such sent to us right away or do we only receive it at the qualifying game? this also leaves a big gap of being able to practise and get used to the marker and equipment if we only get it at the qualifier. It's great that everyone will be equal in equipment, but it's kinda a pain that we may not get to work with the marker and have to figure it out in game.

I am quite curious about a few things. How sure are we that we have to use their markers and equip. I haven't seen anything about it except what was said by other posters...maybe I missed it somewhere. If I did, would somebody point it out to me? Another thing is about pre-registration. Who all did the pre-req and got the email for it? It was stated that it was only for 2 hours and allowing only 100 entrys and starting 48 hours before the regular registration started. Now I waited up past midnight for a couple of hours and then again this morning through the evening and no email for me to pre-req in that time frame. Did they only email the first 100 people? If so that was wrong. They should have done it to all who entered and gone from there.

If you are in the Central Illinois area and are interested in joining a team to go, let me know. I have been playing woodsball for a while and I am  recent combat veteran so I know what I am doing. Just let me know.

Hello Everyone,

This is the Command Center, checking in.

Please remember that the only place to get 100% accurate information will be at www.operationpaintballisland.com beginning March 23. Unfortunately, the website was not ready before this forum and we apologize for that. It will up sometime on Friday, March 23.

Please trust that we are not trying to be secretive about this tournament and this is not any type of get rich scam. It's the opposite. We want everyone to know about it, we want everyone to talk about it and we want everyone to love it. We are not going anywhere. Most of all, we want to put on an incredible paintball tournament. We understand that some of you may have reservations because it has never been done like this before. That's natural. Our credentials will be documented on the website. We are a Florida based company, registered with the Florida Department of State.

On the website, we will have a page dedicated to questions and answers. We will also have a page dedicated to you, our cusomter, where you can send us your suggestions. It will be located in THE WAR ROOM, our community forum and live chat page. We are open to evolving the tournament if necessary to acomodate more and more players and possibly more tournament sites. We need players to make the tournament happen. There is a lot happening behind the scenes to make this event spectacular.

The registration period does not close until August 1, 2007 - 5 months from now. However, the $899 special price expires on April 30. Many of you will benefit from our installment plan. We are going to allow everyone to register for $99 down and then pay 4 monthly payments for the remainder of the registration fee. We want everyone who wants to play to get the chance.

To clarify one other important point, no one is required to sign up as a team. An individual person can sign up and we will place that person on a team. Groups of two or more players can sign up too.

There's more to come. Hang in there. You have one more day to submit a guest card to be invited to the free registration.

quick question does the whole team have to sign up at the same time or if some sign up at different times that they can be linked together as a team? This is a major concern of mine as I am hoping to snag a free registration for myself and my husband is trying as well, but we still have to get the rest of the team together and in on it as it was only announced on the 19th so far i have not had enough time to get ahold of them for them all to try for free registration.

We will link you together as you register. Everyone has to submit the registration on their own, but there will be a selection box where you will indicate your preference to be grouped with other players, whenever they register. The Command Center will monitor this and check with you periodically to help locate your prospective teamates and make sure you get linked. It will be helpful if you pre-determine a captain for your team and make that person the Command Center's point of contact about team groupings.

To clarify, no one is required to use the T68 SMG. You can use your own marker if you wish. We are still giving you the T68 SMG either way. You might find that you like it better than your current marker. We selected this marker as our official marker because of it's tactical nature. You will be allowed to bring your own equipment and gadgets. We are supplying all the paint. This is a tactical tournament, gorilla warfare, special ops. Your not going to be able to fire off 600 rounds and shoot everything in sight. You will have to be wise and work with your team.

Rules will be posted on the website.

Hope this helps.

I meant no offense to those that have taken what I said the wrong way. Yes paintball can be a very expensive sport.  Not everyone can play every  day. weekend or whatever.  It's just that when someone has the gonads to put a game like this out there for the taking it's just depressing to listen to the naysayers.  I believe in free speech and have served my country for 30 years defending that right.  I just wish people would think before speaking.  I don't care what sport, hobby or whatever a person's involved with there will be times that you may not be able to be at every event within that sport.  Paintball for me is fun and this event is an experience that sounds like it will well be worth the money just to play regardless of the prize money.  If you go there with the idea of just winning the money and will go away ticked off if you don't win, you missed the boat.  Any competition ends in someone winning and lots of someones losing.  So mainly I'd like to say that we are all aware of the expense and some will not be able to afford to register this time but if it's a success maybe circumstances will allow for it next time.  If you think this is expensive enter a horse in the Ky. Derby or enter a bigtime golf tourney etc.

The problem is for an event to be successful enough especially one as large as this it has to be able to get a lot of players to go. If a large concern for a lot of players being able to go is cost that is something that they have to consider. if they don't get enough people to go and it isn't successful all because players couldn't afford it that would be a big concern. KY derby was not always that expensive, times and success and the fact that a lot of rich people like it made it that expensive. When it was as young as paintball is now it was not that expensive. And comparing a sport that requires a living animal kinda changes the price big time so it's not entirley a fair comparison, plus you can enter a horse in the qualifying races without a lot of money, big problem is someone can buy ur horse if you like it or not (how it works exactly no idea never was big into racing equestrian) not sure we can offer ourselves up for sale as an entry fee lol. Golf comparison works. But again golf has been around a very long long time and that does make a big difference. but there are many that would complain that they can't afford to get into a golf tournament either no matter how good they are, however golf has a large enough following that it doesn't matter for them it will be a success no matter what.

The biggest problem with the tournament right now is short notice and lack of advertising. I haven't seen it in any of the magazines we can get up here (action pursuit, paintball international, splat--rap4 is in splat all the time hehe and facefull) and they all have their april/may issues already out, so it seems so far only players on rap4 forum and mailing list know about it and do we even know if that is really enough players? The payment plan is gonna help big time though. if i don't manage to get a free registration i probably can at least put in the 99 down for the 900 registration fee and be able to go. Though having a qualifier in Canada (anywhere in canada) would make it a TON cheaper to go for any canadian teams. Any chances of that happening?

I don't see that happening, i think the person paying for it all and whos island you will be playing at wants it done down in Mississippi. Even people over seas have to fly in for it as of now from what i have goten wind of. What will be the big problem even for people who are in the Usa is how to get there gear to the event i mean you can really get on to a plane with your gear you will have to ups it or over night it. So 1299 or 1399 what ever it is now to get into the first round on top of gas, food, place to stay just to get there. They say the money will pay for water, food, paint when you are at the event if you do not place and move on then you have to pay for gas and food and all the same stuff just to get home. So this event is really only for the real die hard milsim players out there with the money and the means to get to the game.

actually they state right there that they may do more tournament sites and they did say 10 qualifier games around the world.

Is this going to be on television by any chance? If not why not? I don't see it not getting picked up. anything with a million dollar prize normally has a pretty good chance of being on tv. The Spike channel would probably be interested in it. they used to play the Paintball 2Xtremes TV show and are big into anything extreme in the sports world. Wouldn't be broadcast til next summer at the earliest, but could make an awesome splash for paintball on tv. Even if i didn't get to go I'd tune in to watch it!

one question that i haven't seen answered yet, and i'm sure several are wondering;  Are .43 cal markers allowed?  do we have to supply our own paint if we bring .43's?
